Can somebody please explain to me what a sitemap is and what exactly it can do for my website.
Ive read alot of posts in other forums about sitemaps but not saying what they are. |

A sitemap will help crawlers (eg: Googlebot) crawl your website more intelligently
This site is a good resource on explaining it http://www.sitemaps.org _________________ Own a Business? Thinking of starting one? >

| Oh great! Thanks for the link. I need all the help I can get with Googlebots. Yahoo is a frequent visitor but Google and MSN not so much. |

It is important to have pages that are frequently being updated, especially your homepage. That can help increase the frequency googlebot visits. And of course, you should try to build your pagerank too. _________________ PHP Link Directory |

| So, if your homepage has changed between the last time the Googlebot spidered and the next time it hits, you will get more frequent indexing? |

| Would they have to be major pages changes or slight ones. I have an all flash site and the html is basically a place holder. |

I found the answer to my own question. Any change will do. Adding links helps. |
