Gimp is open source and I would like to get someones's opinion who has had experience with the program.

I tried linux once aquariancore...

I lasted a whole 3 days before running back to XP with my tail between my legs !

Nah I havent tried that one. Ive read about it a bit on DP and theres a few people that are quite happy with it. I guess you cant complain when its free right? Laughing

I have recently learned of Gimpshop an offshoot of Gimp made to be like photoshop. It is open source.

I've never used linux. so no way, I've not used gimp. I wonder whether it can do all stuffs what ps do or not.

Gimp can be used for windows and now this is a Gimpshop that mimics the format of photoshop. AgaIn it is open source.

I have used GIMP. It's actually very similar to photoshop and seems like it's worth trying. I'd highly suggest it although I am still using Photoshop.

I found the original Gimp more difficult than Photoshop.

Still, the cost difference is notable! Smile If you're paying, you should definitely check out GIMP and see if you can live with the differences.

The new GimpShop version is supposed to mimic Photoshop usage layout and it is a great price free.

I have been using GIMP for two or three months and I am happy with it because it is free. GIMP is better software for making animation. I recommended it for web-designer and other designers.

It's got the gimpshop windows edition. Let me know if you try it and see a difference with the linux version.

Well I use GIMP software for making animation and other projects. I like it because it is free. Very Happy
